PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Through the Gate of Paddles celebrates paddle sport as a shared journey of movement, rhythm and community. Formed as a welcoming gateway along the pedestrian route, the installation transforms the familiar paddle into a field of colour, light and motion. Suspended paddle shaped elements in blue, white and green create a flowing gradient, recalling water, air and surrounding landscape, while the curved metal frame suggests the energy of waves and the repeated motion of rowing through water. Made with recycled plastic, the work gives discarded material a second life as a playful public artwork. As visitors pass through the gateway, the paddles catch sunlight, cast shifting shadows and create a moment of pause before continuing the journey. More than an entrance feature, Through the Gate of Paddles becomes a symbolic threshold into an active, open and inclusive environment, inviting families, athletes and the wider community to celebrate the spirit of paddle sport together.
